Overview
Transit was created and based on a Ministry of Transport project I am a part of.
The goal of the project is to enhance public transportation by providing real-time information on traffic disruptions that cause route changes and delays.
Managed by the Ministry of Transport, its success depends on seamless communication with transportation operators to keep the public informed and ensure smooth travel.

Main Work Flow
AN EVENT LOG IS MANAGED BY A MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT COORDINATOR,
EVENT DETAILS ARE BEING REVIEWED IN COLLABORATION WITH OPERATORS
Every event requires time and effort, and when there are several at once, with the need to complete them quickly, it can be stressful
Notify of public
transportation disruptions
From operators, municipal
authorities, police and more

Verify event details
Reliability of reference, location,
duration, type of disruptions

Decline event

Identify the effects

Publish public alerts

Current State of work
MULTIPLE UNRELATED SYSTEMS AND SOFTWARE ARE BEING USED IN THIS PROJECT
Pristo
Moran
Transit
Moran system is used for public alerts and Transit is a public transportation map. Both are Ministry of Transport systems.
Pristo is an external system used for managing the event log.

Many other systems serve a variety of different purposes, actions, and functions;
Whatsapp, Exel, Outlook, Avigilion cameras, Google Maps, Bus Nearby, ISR Transit, and more

The Challenges
THE CURRENT STATE OF WORK IS DISORGANIZED AND INEFFICIENT. WHEN DEALING WITH LIVE EVENTS RESPONSE TIME IS CRUCIAL.
1.
Using multiple unrelated systems interrupts workflow continuity
2.
The available software and systems are not suited to the required tasks
resulting in time-consuming, clumsy execution with many unnecessary extra steps
2.
The available software and systems are not suited to the required tasks resulting in time-consuming, clumsy execution with many unnecessary extra steps
3.
Tasks are handled at a low level due to inaccurate information, often requiring rework
4.
Users often encounter system crashes that disrupt their work and leave them frustrated
User’s Take
Here are some questions & answers from a questionnaire I posted among users,
including both MOT Coordinators and Operators' Representatives
USERS CONSISTENTLY HIGHLIGHTED KEY ISSUES,
EMPHASIZING THE ESSENTIAL FACTORS FOR THIS WORK:

Time Efficiency
Quick and effective task completion

Info Accessibility
Easy access to relevant data

System Reliability
Minimizing errors and ensuring stability
“
The map doesn't display
bus traffic clearly, leaving
road status unclear
“
“
It takes too long from
reporting the incident
to full verification
“
“
Determining if a report is
relevant and meets the
event opening criteria
“
What problems do you face when
checking traffic distruptions? filling out event details? publishing public alerts? checking traffic distruptions?

The Goal
I AIMED TO DESIGN AN EASY AND INTUITIVE FLOW THAT SAVES TIME AND SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVES EFFICIENCY BY:
Creating a single unified system
Tailoring system navigation to user flow
Customizing features to enhance functionality
The Solution
I decided to focus on the Coordinator's side, as this role manages the event log and has full access to the system. The typical scenario involves receiving a real-time event request from an Operator, which then needs to be reviewed.

Dashboard
THE STATUS OF THE WORK CAN BE ASSESSED AT A GLANCE, ALLOWING FOR A QUICK DIVE INTO THE TASKS

TASKS ARE DISPLAYED BY URGENCY AND CAN BE MANAGED DIRECTLY FROM THE DASHBOARD
Time-sensitive alerts for events requiring reexamination
Real-time/future event requests submitted by Operators
Tasks added by Coordinators or higher-level managers

EVENTS MAP IS A VISUAL OVERVIEW OF EVENTS LOCATIONS, WITH QUICK ACCESS TO ESSENTIAL DETAILS
These map features are intentionally limited;
from event overview, you can access the full map and event
details by clicking on the location and event number

Real-time events are automatically
displayed due to their importance

Messages / Event Requests
EVENT REQUESTS ARE SUBMITTED AS COMPLETE FORMS, INCLUDING ALL REQUIRED EVENT DETAILS

NOTIFYING COORDINATORS OF SIMILAR EVENT REQUESTS SAVES TIME AND MINIMIZES STRESS
A notification appears for similar event requests when the system detects a match in location or both location and event type

The event start time is set when the
request is opened and depends on
completing the form within 15 mins

On click

Map
THE MAP IS THE MAIN COMPONENT OF THE SYSTEM,
INCLUDING ALL RELEVANT DATA ABOUT ROUTES, LINES, AND STATIONS
Location search / Layers > Stops

Polygon search > Lines > Route direction

FEATURES ARE ONE CLICK AWAY AND CUSTOMIZED TO WORK NEEDS
A variety of relevant layer options
first click focuses on location,
second click focuses on polygon
Live bus tracking and trip recovery
Polygon/rectangle marking for search
Erase marked polygon or rectangle

Entering a stop number shows results,
even when the search is set to location

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES ARE SUGGESTED BASED ON PRECISE BLOCKAGES
After approving an alternative route, the system updates affected stations and generates an alert for the traveling public

Events
WHERE EVENT DETAILS ARE MANAGED AND DOCUMENTED

AS THE EVENT END TIME APPROACHES IT WILL TURN YELLOW OR RED
AND AN ALERT WILL APPEAR IN TASKS
The duration of public alerts is determined by the event's start and end times,
which can be extended or shortened based on the situation
